Unfortunately I can't do this until I get back from my trip on Monday. If you'd like to, please feel free to contact tkkang@hkucc.hku.hk and let Mr. T.K. Kang know that his imitation is not considered flattering or appropriate.

It is now inevitable. I have reached a crucial step and am about to officially push snowball down hill...

  • Step One - Begin working solely for myself. Become financially secure while doing so.
  • Step Two - Take a trip down to L.A. Make sure I really want to move there. Did it, am Sure.
  • Step Three - Get back in touch with real estate agent. Discuss selling my condo.
  • Step Four - Begin condo renovations in preparation for selling condo.
  • Step Five - Make plans with real estate agents in Southern California to see homes.
I'll be completing Step Six down south Thursday through Monday seeing homes and areas in preparation for my now inevitable move to SoCal. See you at Step Seven.Your homework while I'm away is coming up with as many "Step Sevens" as you can. Make them good, and productive, so I can be ready to continue when I return!

Preach it, sistah!

It's all about giving what you get. It's very easy to fall into a slump of giving a whole lot more and getting a whole lot less. I am finally rid of this problem, however. I don't see how others can keep up the same cyclical situation. Even worse, many (and I speak from experience) view their jobs and employers in much the same light as an abused spouse. If you're being "abused" now, there's no reason to believe you won't be abused tomorrow. Get out! Find someone who fully appreciates and values you and your contributions. There's nothing wrong with working some extra hours or going above and beyond. But this should in no way be expected of you, especially when the powers that be keep introducing you to additional road blocks.

Yikes. How'd I get into this rant, anyway? Oh yeah. What Edmond said.

Many of you have sent me requests for songs in the style of what I posted a few days ago. The first song from these requests is now ready. It's also my best work so far. :)

From this guy's Saturday, August 11, 2001 blog entry:

Obviously gay?I secretly think that mark bakalor is gay. Maybe it's just my subjective experience, but he does have all of the tell-tale signs:

  1. He's an actor
  2. He's adorably good looking
  3. He's a great designer
  4. He snobbed me on AIM when I just IM'd him a simple "Aloha!"

I've been trying to comb his site for any textual clue to his sexual orientation, but have come up with nothing.

Anyone know?

Well, I know! Hmm. Well. Uh. Sorry. Not gay. Though, even more signs would point towards it. You forgot the Stephen Sondheim Hirschfeld on my wall, hundreds of cast recordings on my shelves, framed theatre showcards and Playbills, etc. Still, not gay. Perhaps I need some affidavits from past girlfriends. :-)

Just the same, I didn't snob you, cheyneboy! You didn't see my away message because you weren't on my buddy list. You assumed I was snobbing you as you didn't see that I was away listening to showtunes and looking for homes for sale in West Hollywood!

Dinah pointed out Dictionaraoke to me a few days back. Naturally, I decided to get into the act. My first two pieces:

I'm now officially taking requests.

I was the first to Blogasm. You will be able to, as well. Soon. I was first, though.

The first section of now public design that I've created for Jerome Records is now online! Much more will be added to the site in the next several weeks, as well. In addition, a lot more of my work will soon be online... Due to being more than overwhelmed with success, it's been over four years since Know-Where has done anything close to a redesign. We're now looking success straight in the eye and daring it to flow even quicker with a brand new marketing project that will begin with the launch of the Know-Where Systems website version 2.0 which should come to a computer near you soon. All of this and more projects on the stove, plus attempting to plan my move down south in the sooner than later near future... I'm keeping quite busy! :)

You would think it would be difficult to confused Leonardo da Vinci and Leonardo Di Caprio. You would be wrong. :)

South Pacific was interesting... to put it more than nicely. I was/am smitten, however, having nothing to do with the show. Sigh.

Saturday, August 4, 2001

Hello from West Hollywood... saw an "excrutiating" play last night, the first half of Beach Blanket Bingo and tonight will see a theatre under the stars performance of "South Pacific" with David and Bruce, starring Tammi Tappan and featuring her husband Chris Damiano. Not quite sure what to expect there. Friends are fun, weather is great, houses are less expensive. And, for the record, the second syllable of "applaud" does indeed rhyme with "God." No question.

Lots of things going on at Mark central. Several "major" commercial website redesign projects should unveil with the next few days, a couple weeks, and/or by the end of the month. I'm also continuing work on my top secret site project and will do even more work on it when I go back down to the LA area to see and work with dlevy and company. In other major new things happening in Mark's life, the snowballing idea of moving has been pushed down the hill. I can easily see myself somewhere else within the year, perhaps. Let's just say, don't disregard the possibility of my checking out some open houses down in the L.A. area this weekend, too. :)

Webcam

You know it. You love it. You can't get enough of it. Yes, it's the infamous webcam!

Sweeney Todd
Read all about how I, and hundreds of others, got screwed out of tens of thousands of dollars by Doug Mayo.

Times have changed and so too has the design of this site. Journey back in time with me for some redesign fun!

Assassins
I have a healthy fascination with the phenomenon of events in relation to the musical Assassins.

What people are saying:

I'm really not sure of the appeal of Mark Bakalor's site, because frankly I suspect there is none, but hell, I check it at least thrice daily, and you should too!

- dlevy

"Your website is beautifully demented. The moving head thing in the top left just does it. I've been staring at it for the past minute and still find it amusing. You're an inspiration to us all."

- Gord

"A physical middle ground between Bing Crosby and a sedated Pee-Wee Herman."

- Press Democrat

"Your website makes me giggle. tee-hee! i cannot stop myself."

- Jenn Kauffman

"Decide for yourself if this guy is brilliant or kooky."

- Brainrub.com

Brilliant!!! You're a cross between Robin Willliams and Fred Astaire!

- Mom

"I want to keep an ongoing converse with you about the end of wars, crime, death and old age... Like most, you are probably a bible reader... lets talk soon."

- Michael

"poopy shmapoopy on a purple stick."

- Emily

"People as talented as you should be smothered at birth. You're making the rest of us look like slackers."

- Brad Graham

"caCAcaca!"

- Elmer

Do you have something to add?
