02/12/2002 Success!
Hooray! With a total prediction rate of 76.8%, this year has been my best yet for Oscar noms. I tied last year's 80% correct for the top four categories and got a whopping 87.5%, my best to date, for the top eight. Overall, my most succesful nomination prediction categories are for Actress, Supporting Actress and Visual Effects. My worst are Foreign Film, Make-Up and Sound Editing. There were a few surprises this year, though less than expected. In the cases where I incorrectly predicted a nominee, 45% of the time I correctly predicted the actual nominee in my list of spoilers. I've listed my predictions below. Correctly predicted nominees are listed in green, incorrect in red, nominated spoiler predictions are in blue and the rest of the not nominated but predicted as possible spoilers are in grey...

It looks like I did better than nearly all the other prediction lists I've kept an eye on for years including Entertainment Weekly, Zeusefer, Sijmen and Alex.Cool!

I have a healthy fascination with the phenomenon of events in relation to the musical Assassins. |
What people are saying:
I'm really not sure of the appeal of Mark Bakalor's site, because frankly I suspect there is none, but hell, I check it at least thrice daily, and you should too!

"Your website is beautifully demented. The moving head thing in the top left
just does it. I've been staring at it for the past minute and still find it
amusing. You're an inspiration to us all."
- Gord
"A physical middle ground between Bing Crosby and a sedated Pee-Wee Herman."
- Press Democrat
"Your website makes me giggle. tee-hee! i cannot stop myself."

- Mom
"I want to keep an ongoing converse with you about the end of wars,
crime, death and old age... Like most, you are probably a bible reader...
lets talk soon."
